Why Thrive Matters | Aerobic fitness, longevity, and shaping a body that can keep moving.

Even today cardiovascular training is still viewed through a very narrow lens. That it is something done to burn calories, or to improve fitness quickly by pushing to exhaustion.

At Klae, we see it differently.

Aerobic fitness is one of the most important systems we can support for long-term health, energy, cognitive function, and resilience. It influences our recovery, our thinking, our aging process, and how capable we feel within our everyday lives. This is exactly why Thrive exists within the Klae Method: as an intentional way to build capacity sustainably and support the whole body.

The What | Aerobic Fitness

This refers to your body’s ability to efficiently take in, transport, and use oxygen. This process supports nearly every system in the body. The stronger your aerobic system becomes, the more effectively your heart, lungs, blood vessels, muscles, and brain are able to work together to produce and sustain energy.

One of the strongest indicators of this is VO2 max, which measures how efficiently your body can utilise oxygen during movement.

Research consistently links higher VO2 max levels with:

  • improved cardiovascular health
  • better cognitive function
  • increased energy production
  • healthier ageing
  • and greater longevity overall

In simple terms, aerobic fitness is deeply connected to how well the body continues to function over time.

Why it matters beyond exercise

One of the most interesting aspects of aerobic training is that its benefits extend far beyond movement itself. Research highlighted through FoundMyFitness shows that aerobic exercise plays a significant role in supporting brain health and cognitive function.

As aerobic fitness improves, blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain also improve. This supports memory, focus, learning, and long-term neurological health. Aerobic exercise has also been shown to increase Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), often referred to as a “growth factor” for the brain due to its role in supporting neuroplasticity and the formation of new neural connections.

At the same time, aerobic training supports mitochondrial health. Mitochondria are responsible for producing energy within our cells, and their function is closely tied to vitality, recovery, and healthy ageing.

This means Thrive supports not only how you move, but also how your body produces energy, adapts to stress, and functions well long term.

Why people are often hesitant to try Thrive

One of the biggest misconceptions around conditioning is that it has to feel extreme to be effective. For many people, especially those returning to movement or building confidence again, the word “cardio” can immediately feel intimidating.

There can be an assumption that you need to already be fit enough before stepping into a Thrive session.

This is not how we approach movement at Klae. Thrive is designed to be adaptive, each session allowing space for different capacities, different energy levels, and different stages of experience. The goal is not to perform at someone else’s level, but to gradually build your own.

This is where our coaches play an important role. Through intentional class design, real-time guidance, and smaller group sizes, members are supported to work at an intensity that feels challenging yet manageable for them. Then, over time, capacity builds naturally.

How Thrive works within the Klae Method

Within Klae, Thrive exists alongside Sculpt and Restore because aerobic fitness does not exist in isolation.

Strength supports the structural system of the body.
Restore supports recovery, mobility, and nervous system regulation.
Thrive develops cardiovascular capacity, endurance, coordination, and adaptability.

Together, they create a more complete system. Within this, our Thrive sessions each approach this slightly differently.

Thrive | Forge

Forge focuses on dynamic conditioning through kettlebell flow, functional movement patterns, and coordinated sequences that build endurance and sustained output over time.

Alongside physical conditioning, there is also a cognitive component. Members are asked to stay present, adapt, and respond as complexity gradually increases, supporting both physical and mental resilience.

Thrive | Form

Form takes a more exploratory approach to aerobic and neurological development through bodyweight strength, inversion work, locomotion, and gymnastics-inspired movement.

These sessions challenge coordination, balance, motor control, and spatial awareness, all of which become increasingly important for healthy ageing and long-term movement capability.

Both sessions support aerobic fitness, though in different ways. More importantly, both create an opportunity to build trust and confidence in your body’s capabilities.

At Klae, we believe conditioning should leave you feeling more connected to your body, not disconnected from it.

This is why Thrive matters.

Not because harder is better, but because capacity changes how we experience life itself.
